Private Residence – Castleton, Vermont
Nestled on the edge of Lake Bomoseen, this private residence is not your typical A-Frame of the mid 20th century. The rafters are framed with continuous manufactured lumber which exceeds 31ft and braced by the second floor in some areas. The interior space of the main volume is anchored by a 2 story open living room with large southern facing windows on one end, while at the other, an exposed steel stringer stair with a “V” landing support provides access to the upper level. The cross gable added another level of framing complexity by removing a large part of the rafters in one area which required the valley’s to act as a tripod. The second cross gable provided space for the garage and guest suite.
