Saratoga Honda – Saratoga Springs, New York

The newly expended and rebuilt Saratoga Honda provides more than 44,000 sq.ft of show room, administrative offices and service space. The original building had a phased demolition to allow the dealership to remain operational throughout the duration of the project. The deep “porch” roof allows for a covered exterior show case space of Honda’s newest line of automobiles. The show room provides a 1 1/2 story space wrapped in a glazing story front. Architectural details were incorporated into the exposed steel ends as well as thermal breaks provided between interior and exterior beams to minimize heat loss. Framing comprised of structural steel wide flange beams, bar joists and metal deck.

A second expansion in 2021 provided additional service bays, a larger wash area and a new Parts Delivery Entrance bringing the total space to nearly 52,000 sq.ft. The addition was originally designed to be framed with bar joists and wide-flange beams. Given the material availability challenges that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic and the large width of the building, the design team opted to redesign the roof with all wide-flange beams which were field spliced similar to a pre-engineered metal building.
